Description
Golda Meir was the first female prime minister of the state of Israel. Her name is synonymous with strength, fortitude, energy, passion, loyalty, vision. One of the foremost figures of the 20th century, Golda Meir worked tirelessly to bring the fledgling state of Israel into being and for another 20 years following she fought to shape it and keep it safe.
Golda's Balcony finds her at 75 looking back over a life of service, joys, sorrows, and great peril. The play particularly focuses on the Yom Kippur War of 1973 when she was Prime Minister facing the most wrenching decisions any leader can face. William Gibson based his work on interviews with Golda and those who at the time of his research had survived the pain of birthing a nation.
